Get 2 perfect fit moen 1222 cartridge replacements!
My shower had this annoying constant drip. At first, I grabbed a cartridge from my local hardware store, thinking it’d be a quick fix. Nope, it actually made the leak worse! After digging around online, I found out it’s a pretty common issue with those cartridges. After replacing with this 1222 cartridge. The drip completely stopped, and the quality difference is super clear. Honestly, I’d highly recommend ordering two cartridges just in case the first one doesn’t solve your problem. If the first one works perfectly, you can always return the second or keep it as a backup.

It fit, but doesn’t work properly
Close to identical to the OEM Moen cartridge it replaced, but didn’t work properly. Was happy to find this cartridge at a good price and with fast shipping, as I needed to do a repair to my shower ASAP. The instructions that come with this are not great, but I have some experience installing these in other showers so that wasn’t too big of a deal for me. Installation went smoothly enough with the tool and lube provided in the package. However, after turning the water back on, I am not getting cold water to my shower. From the off position counter-clockwise to full open (I set it at the same stop as I had before for hot) water temp starts hot as soon as valve is turned on, goes from hot to warm at about a quarter turn, then to hot at about halfway, and scalding lava beyond that. I believe it is a defective unit with something wrong internally that is not allowing cold water in or water to mix properly. I’m leaving it for now until I can get another because it is still possible to get a hot shower with it as is, but extra care has to be taken to find the right temp. Maybe I just got a dud, but I can’t recommend based on my experience.

I bought this to replace a cartridge that was 20+ years old. It wasn’t providing much on the hot water side. I learned that this is a pretty common cartridge. I decided to try a non-OEM version since it was considerably cheaper. Plus, it came with a cartridge removal tool.The hardest part of the job was pulling the old cartridge. The instructions provided with the cartridge showed you have to turn the old cartridge about 45 degrees clockwise to remove it. The plastic removal tool had some give to it, and I was worried it wouldn’t hold to get the cartridge free. It was deforming near the end and (I think) on the verge of failure. if I had to do more than one of these jobs, I’d get a metal removal tool.Was happy to see that both instructions and grease were included in the kit. Pleased overall.

It fits perfectly and installed easily. However, it doesn’t turn off at the stop and it takes some fine tuning to get it to shut off. It will continue to drip slowly. So it’s okay, but not great

I installed it and it would not turn the water all the way off, I used the o rings and seals to rebuild my old cartridge so it worked.
